I’ve always imagined that I would spend a summer at the sea. That I would be swept away by my mother or grandmother. That I would be desperately in love with a boy I met on the beach and we would spend our evenings fighting to get out of family obligations in order to wander along the beach until sunrise. I imagined that I would wear big brimmed hats and long, flowing skirts. I imagined I would take in a long deep breath, and life would instantaneously look so much simpler. I imagined that I wouldn’t have a care in the world. I kind of imagined that it would be a summer in black and white.

And here I am. Spending the current days of my life by the sea. Spending my life having breakfast at the beach, going for long walks when the weather is glorious, and overall, enjoying…

Happy Birthday to the one and only Bettie Page

The Pin Up Curl

I’m slightly obsessed with Bettie Page and have been for many many years.

bettie
She truly was amazing, everything from what she represented to the legacy she left behind. She taught us to stop being scared of our sexuality and to embrace the female form. I know she has been trivialized and used more as a brand than anything else but we mustn’t forget how much of a maverick she truly was.

Looking forward to watching Bettie Reveals All when it’s released in a matter of hours.

TLO April Lookbook

okay andie

01300026 The color scheme in both the clothes and location of TLO’s latest lookbook is superb. Particularly, the pastel pink in the first two looks in combination with the rich greens in the background feels oh so summery, and is just the sort of bright, obnoxious things I’d like to be wearing once the weather figures itself out. It’s another one of those lookbooks that feels very suburban California, and we all know I love love love that. C’mon Summer, hurry your butt up!

What music…love itttttttt 🙂

Reviewing the past, present and future of The Silver Screen

beer-collage-tv-and-kitchen

White picket fences and impeccably arranged flower beds line a winding suburban cul-de-sac; children frolic in the enriching, clean summer air while their parents mingle with their neighbours at the poolside oasis. The men boast over their latest conquest in consumerism as the women battle for the role of domestic goddesses, with pinnys and polka dot dresses they’re nearer Suzy Homemaker than anything real.

This fabled scene of idyllic, or ideal, tranquillity epitomises 1950s America dream- the beginning of the modern world we take for granted so openly. The birth of contemporary advertising and cheap goods marked the emergence of mass consumption that…
